H.E. Engineer Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor

His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor is the Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the strategic health authority for the Emirate of Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued a degree appointing HE Eng. Al Maidoor as the Director-General of the DHA on the 14th of November, 2012.
DHA's mandate includes oversight of the health sector for the Emirate of Dubai as well as service delivery at DHA facilities. The DHA oversees health policy and strategy, health data, information analysis and standards, health promotion and public health, regulation of healthcare professionals and facilities, medical education and research and healthcare funding. In addition to this, it also ensures delivery of high-quality health services at its hospitals, primary healthcare and speciality centres.
Thus, in his capacity as the Director-General of the DHA, HE Eng. Al Maidoor is responsible for overseeing and providing leadership guidance for all policy, regulatory and public health matters in the Emirate of Dubai. He is also responsible for the overall strategy of the health sector in Dubai.
Prior to this appointment, since September 2012, HE Eng. Al Maidoor was the Deputy Director-General of Dubai Municipality. He earlier held the post of Assistant Director for Engineering and Planning at the municipality.
HE Eng. Al Maidoor has earned his bachelor's degree in Engineering from Utah State University, USA.
