Biography

Dr. Mohammed H. Khoshaim graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, King Saud University in Riyadh with honors in 1979.

He left to Canada for the purpose of specializing in the field that he likes most - general surgery and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeon and Physicians of Canada in 1986. After completion of his training, he returned to Saudi Arabia to work initially as Assistant then Associate Professor of Surgery in King Saud University in the period between 1986 and 1996. During that he showed a very strong interest in research, practice and teaching in the field of Breast and Endocrine Surgery.

In 1996, he was appointed as Medical Director of the National Guard Health Services in the Western region and continued to serve in the post until April 2009 when he joined the Ministry of Health as the Deputy Minister for Planning and Development. In addition, Dr Khoshaim is the Chairman of the Saudi Central Board of Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) since 2006. Under his leadership, he managed to launch the first genuine program in Saudi Arabia for Quality in Healthcare.

Dr. Khoshaim has won many important prizes and awards like the best teacher of the year 1989 in the Faculty of Medicine, Riyadh and later on he was awarded the highest medal in Saudi Arabia namely: King Abdulaziz Medal of First Degree.

He was appointed as Vice Minister of Health for Planning and Development in January 2012 until now.
