King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, Family Medicine Clinic, Riyadh becomes the first HIMSS Analytics Primary Care EMRAM Stage 7 Organization in the Middle East

HIMSS Analytics is proud to announce that King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, Family Medicine Clinic (KFSH-FMC), Riyadh, has achieved Stage 7 of the Primary Care Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (PC-EMRAM). The attainment of this Award makes KFSH-FMC the first organization to achieve Stage 7 in the Middle East and the first PC-EMRAM Stage 7 Organization outside North America.

KFSH-FMC is renowned for offering a comprehensive suite of medical care by leveraging its top-notch facilities, innovative technology, world-class physicians and excellence in patient service.

HIMSS Analytics developed the Primary Care Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (PC-EMRAM) in 2012 as a methodology for evaluating the progress and impact of EMR systems at primary care facilities. HIMSS Analytics ranks primary care facilities in eight stages (0-7) with stage 7 representing the highest level of EMR adoption.

"Being the first PC-EMRAM Stage 7 organization outside of the US to receive this distinction speaks vastly of the focus the Kingdom and its Leaders have placed on healthcare. That combined with the dedication & commitment of KFSH&RC staff shows that we are equipped and focused on constantly improving patient care," said Dr Qasim Al Qasabi MD, FRCSI, FACS, Chief Executive Office of King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center.

King Faisal Specialist Hospital Family Medicine Clinic includes the following sections:

Its Polyclinics perform assessments and referrals to the subspecialty clinics for patients requiring tertiary care. They also provide clinical service to patients with inter-current problems and follow-up treatment for patients from the Emergency Room.

"It was very easy to validate King Faisal Specialist Hospital Family Medicine Clinic at Stage 7 of the Primary Care EMRAM," said John Daniels, Global Vice President, Healthcare, Advisory Services Group, HIMSS Analytics. "Not only do they have a paperless care environment supported by a strong governance strategy, the exceptional patient portal allows the clinic to better support their patients and encourages patients to actively participate in their own care process."
